Monday in Suva
Suva woke up on Monday morning with a noise of cars and buses, and a bustle of the hotel guests. Intrigued we set off for the town and we saw the capital of Fiji in its daily activities.
The 80.000-people city was getting lots of life and colours. Despite the heat of 33C., full of energy, we finally went shopping for the famous Bula shirts.
Stores and shopping malls were full of people and the harbour was very busy because the cruiser Sun Princess had moored there with a 1000 or more passengers. The one we saw in Sydney.
Since early morning everybody was rushing to the big market which was not that crowded in the early afternoon. Have a look at those fruit and vegies! The best mangos we have ever eaten!
Now a short course of Fijian, Hindi and Cantonese, the languages used in Fiji:
Polish comes extra:
cześć hello bula namaste neh ho
dzień dobry good morning ni san yan dra Kaise hai jo san
dziękuję thank you vinaka dhan baad dor czier
But BULA! is the most important of them all. Then Vinaka! Every Fijian says BULA! to all the foreigners with a beautiful smile. How nice!
Bula vinaka - is to say good-bye.
