Shakespeare on Saturday...
Now it's time for Shakespeare!
Teatr Nowy im. Izabella Cywińska, about which you should read here:
https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teatr_Nowy_w_Poznaniu
It is located in an Art Nouveau tenement house at 5 Jana Henryka Dąbrowskiego Street, called the "House of the Dancing Rooster".
The theatre proposes A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM by William Shakespeare directed by Jan Klata - a rather controversial artist, about whom Wikipedia also writes.
The photos of the performance posted here come from the theater's website and are the authorship of Jakub Wittchen.
The theatre writes:
“A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM
Love does not always have shades of pink and red, and the forest of Athens is not always an innocent, green grove. We are closer to Shakespeare in a version that David Lynch could easily direct, and in which the lovers ran around Twin Peaks rather than among moss and ferns. This is a brief summary of another already mesmerising performance by Jan Klata on the Main Stage of the Nowy Theatre.
The universally known love story in this approach is laced with uncertainty, threat and violence. Here, love is not always beautiful, and the forest spirits sometimes have impure intentions…
Will love and goodness triumph? Is Puck the only one? Will this DREAM turn out to be… a nightmare?”
