Siracuse and Ortigia
Siracuse. The Italians say Siracusa but we the Poles say Syrakusas The Italians say Italia but we say Włochy. How patriotic it is!
This plural comes from the Latin name Siracusæ ..
The next leg of the trip.
A nightmare night, because Santa Lucia requires loud celebration until dawn! Our apartment (I hardly call it that) is nice and clean. The ceiling % m high!
Breakfast is included! With a piece of paper we go to the bar across the street. There was a choice of croissant with or without filling and cappuccino.
We are on the island of Ortigia - a district of Syracuse. The elegance of shop windows, hundreds of restaurants and the warm breeze from the sea are delightful.
Archimedes, his square and fountain evoke educational memories. But we don't have a bathtub in the suite to check the experiment.
We visit the archaeological park, which is a stone on a stone, and there is an active Greek amphitheater (because Greek pieces are performed) and the Roman amphitheater - a bit neglected. It's a pity.
On to Catania, and from the highway we admire the snow-covered Mount Etna.
