On bicycles - sightseeing
Yesterday, with temeperure slighltly below zero, we decided to do a sightseeing ride in the Arkoński Forest.
Our challenge was to ride up the Arkona hill on which there are ruins of the Quistorp’s tower* (German: Quistorpturm).
It is a remnant of an observation tower built in 1900–1904.
*more here in German:
From time to time you had to get off the bikes and push them up a sharp hill or bring them down the slope.
Great fun and effective calorie burning!
And when we got at the bottom onto the glades, we observed a charming weather phenomenon – hoar frost*
* Hoar frost (rime) - ice deposit formed when freezing small, supercooled droplets of water (fog or cloud) when the droplet contacts the surface of the object or an already raised rime. It consists of sticky ice crystals, sometimes growing to relatively thick thicknesses. Settling on tree branches can cause them to break.
