Recreation by rthe river
Kampot is situated on the Praek Tuek Chhu river which has about 20 km to before it flowsinto the Gulf of Thailand.
It has quite a fast current. At the high tide of the Gulf, the river flows "uphill". In addition to the difficulties in water sports, there is one serious problem: all dirt and rubbish from the ocean return to the city. It happens that the river stinks.
Environmental protection as a social behaviour is not here yet, but we do notice a slight improvement over time.
Recreation on the river and water sports (canoeing, stand up paddling (SUP) develop in accordance with the interest of tourists.
