Our day in Kep
We do nothing in Kep in a beautiful resort owned by Chris – a Californian, married to a Khmer lady, father of three beautiful kids.
A little bored with hotel life (in our thatched bungalows), and with breakfast from the menu, we decided (not for the first time, anyway) to go to the local market, where we’ll eat "in Khmer."
It's a bit difficult to get understood when you do not know what's in the pots and we do not want meat!
Even the learned sentence "... I do not eat meat ..." does not help much, and we get, apart from rice, on separate plates, various dishes that had been in contact with meat anyway!
It's hard! If you want to go "locally", you have to accept that vegetarianism is not a habit here.
But, despite appearances, the eatery is clean and the food tasty.
Large helping - about 1 USD.
1 kg of mandarins (infinitely sweet) for 2.5 USD!
