Paris - step by step
Full of music impressions after the jazz concert, we got a still greater desire for visual effects – we decided to start with the Musee d'Orsay.
It was as a very impressive decision of Paris city authorities to waive the demolition of a decaying train station and turn it into an art museum. Not only did they rescue a beautiful eclectic historical building, but also they created an art gallery which was established in the building complex, with a a vast collection of French paintings, sculptures and furniture. The latter is from the turn of nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and is a beautiful representation of Art Nouveau.
The Louvre contains the art which is older and Pompidou Centre younger from the one in the Museum D'Orsay.
It is easy to dream about visiting the museum, but more difficult to make it happen ...
In the morning, waiting in line for tickets, we found out that all employees of cultural institutions in in Paris were on strike!! It was unknown how long the strike would last.
The problem in this city is that every day a group, controlled by trade unions, goes on strike.
Today, in addition to the above, the garbage people are on strike. The streets are piled with sacks of waste waiting for the happy end of the strike ...
Fortunately, the Metro works!
Since the idea of the museum failed, we decided to go for a long walk around the city, with the destination - Notre Dame Cathedral.
