Montreal in the afternoon
After a some-hour-drive South-West from Quebec we arrived in Montreal – the second biggest city of Canada.
Beautiful neighbourhoods of Montreal stretch along the southern slopes of Mount Royal which gave the name to the city.
Vieux-Montréal – The Old City is located close by the river quais where there are many interesting and old buildings. They are a mix of European and American architecture.
The Old City, doesn’t, unfortunately, have the same charm as European Quebec does. But it still attracts tourists and residents with a big number of pubs and restaurants as well as with souvenir shops.
Those shops are a local phenomenon. Not only are they so numerous but also they sell exactly the same: a vast number of “souvenirs” which undoubtedly are kitchy and crapy.
Today’s stroll is to let us familiarize with the city’s topography, but tomorrow we set off for real sightseeing…
